Newsletter September 2008

Hello everyone,

OK, right to the good stuff. The Voices anthology (featuring my first published short story!) is almost here. You can pre-order copies from the website, and the best part is that it will be distributed here in the US. It won't be translated, so email me if you have trouble. FYI: lift = elevator, colour = color, and bloody = @#$%@#$! unless it is referring to actual blood. The announcement is here: http://www.morriganbooks.com/?page_id=135

In further good news re: my artistic endeavors, I have completed one new short story for the new Morrigan Press E-zine, and I have dredged up another short story that I wrote a few years ago. It should fit the theme, so hopefully they'll let me submit both. But wait, there's more. The editor of said magazine sent out the call looking for dark pictures to use on the 'zine's website. I sent in some of my old black and whites, and they are interested in using one or more of them! I knew my dark and brooding phase would come in handy one day.

If you want to see the photos I submitted, I've added a new photo gallery to my site. Well, I'm still in the process of integrating it, but you can see the sneak preview here: http://www.toddcedwards.com/photo/

With all that good news on the short story/photography front, what else is there to say. Our baby continues to grow at an amazing pace. Every few weeks we have to send clothes to the give away bin and get new ones. If she continues to grow at this pace, she'll be 20 feet tall when she hits puberty. I knew my genetic manipulation phase would come in handy one day.

Baby is quite a handful, so by the end of each day, I've been exhausted and haven't worked on my novel-in-progress in a while. But now, we have a "manny" of sorts to watch her during the day. My father-in-law has moved up here to San Francisco to take care of her during the day. We are very happy about that. My other plan is to get the newest version of Dragon Natuarlly Speaking and then dictate the novel while I'm holding baby. She'll think I'm talking to her. The trouble is that she doesn't like to hang out in one place very long. She has to keep moving like a shark. That is, unless she spots some trees blowing in the wind. She can stare at that for minutes at a time.

Well, enjoy your September. My reading pick of the month is Is Your Mama A Llama? It is the story of one baby llama's search for his mother in a world populated by an eclectic mix of animals.

Take care,

--Todd
