Newsletter January 2008

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a fun time and that you accomplished what you wanted to in 2007. Are you 2008 goals set? Did you re-evaluate your life over the holiday? I did...sorta. I re-evaluated my writing life.

I decided it was time to move on from A Clockwork Murder. I'm releasing the e-version for free so I can focus on my newer projects. Check out the ACM page for more details and to download a copy for yourself.

Give out my book for free? Am I nuts? Yes, absolutely. But it is still a good idea. The reviews from agents and editors said that it was good but not marketable. I want to prove them wrong. I want to give it out and track how well it does. I want to shift my efforts from marketing to the publishing world over to marketing to the readers. I know there is an audience for it, and I want to find them. And I want them to find the book. When I have some solid numbers, I can go back to the publishers and give them a second chance.

To do that, I need your help. Viral marketing depends on word of mouth, and you are my first circle of troops. Tell everyone you know. Point them to my website. Don't go overboard and annoy people, but be sure to mention it widely. You never know who might enjoy a free murder mystery set in a fantasy world. And 10 points for each person you refer. A bonus 10 if they also sign up for the newsletter.

It is also a good idea, because it frees my brain to worry about other things…like researching and finishing the other exciting books that I've started.

Also, I am going to give peas another chance this year. My wife likes them, but I can't figure out why. That's what New Year resolutions are for.

Enjoy the book, take care, and spread the word,

--Todd
