December 2006
Hello everyone,
I just returned from a work trip where I discovered I didn't have access to the newsletter mailing list. D'oh! But on the bright side, I did remake the website (toddcedwards.com) with new software that is more minimalist. I didn't like the busy look of the old one, especially on the backend (which could be annoying to use). I also installed some mailing list software and I'm testing it out now. Hopefully it will be up and running next month.
Also on the plus side of spending a week with nothing to do but hang out in the hotel in the evenings, I finished the first draft of Goblin Poison, the sequel to A Clockwork Murder. I really like how it turned out, but before I spend much time editing it, I want to publish ACM.
I've also been asked to do my Science in Science Fiction session at the next Writer's Weekend conference in March. It's good to be wanted. :) I want to have a presentable version of Viral Coat ready for the conference so I can start shopping it around. I have a feeling that a biotech thriller will be easier to sell than a quirky, fantasy/mystery/humor novel starring a gnome. The world just isn't ready for my Art.
/sigh.
In tech news, I got myself a Sony ebook reader with e-ink. I've read two novels on it so far and I absolutely love it. Kinda pricy, but if you read a lot, you should check it out. Best way to read electronically, hands down.
Since I'm editing my thriller, I'll probably be reading a bunch (the new Michael Crichton, a James Rollins or two, etc.) I didn't read much in November because I was writing. I did read a new one from someone in my crit group as well as the first draft of Viral Coat. I loved them both. You should buy them. When they come out. Unless you are a publisher, in which case you can buy now.
Happy Holidays!
